Way back in the 80's I heard this unique mix before I knew what remixes were. It was of MJ's "Thriller". I believe it was Kiss FM in NYC that I heard this. Just like blown away and speechless by what was happening live on the radio. Couldn't tell you who was spinning but, chances are it was Shelter's TR. From that point I was always into music that you can dance creatively to and in that era it was breakin', housing, and whatever New Edition and Kid & Play was doing, lol... Fast forward to when I was old enough to sneak into clubs, man listen! I became fascinated with the circles that seemed like endless body rocking for real. So I had to involve myself with this. It became almost like a drug for me. Practicing with my main man, Christopher “Professor" David religiously. Check him out: http://chrisdavid13.podomatic.com/ NYC started to change a bit and DJ's that I felt really rocked, steered left and added some sounds that were not so soulful in my opinion. Found myself going to clubs just to sit down and drink??? Then you have the DJ's that couldn't get a gig and be themselves because that was just too much to ask for, (sorry bitter times for me). I had to hear house the way I knew it to be so I started collecting records only because I thought it was a way to have some memory of what real soulful house sounded like. Borrowed my boy's equipment and just messed around. Back to back sessions with the Professor who totally helped me get it together with the science of it all. Who knew? A hobby got me some really good gigs and people actually remembered my sets! Circles were formed during my sets. I even danced during my sets. I truly started to have fun again. I'm not at all claiming to be a famous DJ or think that I am this legend. I'm one dude of many who loves House so much, just had to contribute the way I knew how so that this soulful tradition stayed soulful... I know you didn't come here to read so please enjoy these mixes and drop a couple of comments. Shout out to every DJ that never compromised what they REALLY rock with. Shouts to all of the real legends we followed and still follow. Much Love & Respect...
